About

The Museum of Science and Industry is enormous, interactive and packed with exhibits for curious visitors of every age. You can explore a real submarine, watch a model railroad travel from Chicago to Seattle, step inside a tornado and descend into a recreated coal mine. There’s enough to fill an entire day, so it helps to choose a few must-see exhibits before you arrive.

Transit

Number 10 Obama Presidential Center/Museum of Science & Industry Express bus directly to the museum entrance.
Number 6 Jackson Park Express bus to 56th Street and Hyde Park Boulevard, one block north of the museum.
Metra Electric Line to the 55th/56th/57th Street station, approximately two blocks from the north entrance.
Red or Green Line to Garfield, then transfer to the eastbound Number 55 Garfield bus.

Parking

The museum’s underground garage is located at 57th Street and Cornell Avenue.
- Museum parking costs $22 per vehicle.
- The garage opens at 8 a.m. and closes one hour after the museum closes.
Metered parking is also available in the lots east and south of the museum on Columbia Drive.

♿ Accessibility

Elevators and ramps provide wheelchair access to all public floors, and accessible stalls are available in every restroom.
Accessible parking is available throughout the underground garage. Oversized and van-accessible spaces are located in the Blue (D) section, and the entrance from the garage into the museum is wheelchair accessible.
A limited number of manual wheelchairs are available free of charge in the Entry Hall with a photo ID. Wheelchairs can also be reserved in advance.
Some historic experiences have limited accessibility. The Coal Mine tour and U-505 onboard tour are not wheelchair accessible, although the main U-505 exhibit is accessible.
